Last Week’s Wrap Up: The Gilded King

Hi! This has been a slower week for me as I have had so much going on, but I did manage to get a few read.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This book has it all. It has vampires and zombies. It has a cute, if impossible love story. It also has a quest to save a friend who has long been lost.

Julia and Claudia are friends in the blue. They are not in great standing because of mistakes their parents made. Claudia becomes an attendant to a Noble and elevates her position. Julia does not desire to become anything other than what she is and wants to leave for the red as soon as possible. But no one knows what really happens outside the walls of the blue and if the stories are true, the red is no place to be. Claudia’s Noble takes blood from her everyday and leaves marks all over her. Julia cannot bear to see it. Then one day Julia is notified she has been chosen as a attendant to a boy named Lucas.

Lucas is nothing like she expected. He is kind. He has a rooftop apartment and he grows his own food. Her treats her with respect and never takes blood from her. One day Rufus, Claudia’s Noble tries to make a move on Julia. Lucas is forced to claim her to protect her. Eventually he bites a small mark on her ear and places a silver earring through it. Little does she now he has officially claimed her.

There is a claiming ceremony where Lucas is supposed to claim another but Rufus sees the earring and announces it and claims the girl Lucas was supposed to claim.

Meanwhile, Cam is out in the red searching everywhere for Emmy. The partner he lost so long ago. Everyone else has given up on her, but he will not. He receives a tip from the Empress and takes off again on a grueling journey to find her, but he finds much more. Possibly even love. But can Felix be trusted?

Such an interesting story! I will be honest that at first I had no idea what was going on but it is definitely action packed and leaves you wondering who is on what side. I can’t wait to find out what Emmy’s story is and if she can bring the Primus back like I assume.

The second part to this story, The Silver Queen, will be out on October 17. I will also be reviewing this book.

Definitely a fitting book for the spooky time of the year!

I got one more this week but it is a part of a blog tour and will be later in the month.

What did you read?

Book Tag: Book Blogger Confessions

I was nominated by Laurie

Thanks Laurie! This looks like so much fun!
The Rules:
1. Answer the questions truthfully.
2. Tag five book bloggers to answer these questions next.
Which book did you most recently DNF?

Umm…. it was a review copy. I just did not get in to the book at all. I hate to DNF a book, especially a review copy, But sometimes you just have to. There are too many books to read something you do not enjoy. Not every book is for every person.

What book is your guilty pleasure?

I love books with romance and laughs. I love when the characters are so entertaining they make me smile and laugh. I love to read actual physical books too, but ebooks are so fast for me.

Which book would you throw into the sea?

I would never destroy a book. A book I DNF and did not enjoy was Rebel of The Sands. It seemed to get pretty good ratings,  but it just was not for me.
Which book have you read the most?

I actually do not reread books. I know, I know but once I have read them I know what will happen and again there are so many books I will never have time to read that I just don’t go back and read the same ones,
Which book would you hate to receive as a present?

A non fiction book. I can never make it through one of those.
Which book could you not live without?

ALL of them.
Which book made you the angriest?

This is an easy one. The final Divergent book. I have many trust issues with authors in general after this book. Why? Why would you do this to me??
Which book made you cry the most?
Holding On to Forever by Heidi McLaughlin. It was so sad. I cried like a baby. Great book. I have adored this whole series, but man the feels were rough on this one. In general I stay away from books I think might make me cry.
Which book cover do you hate the most?

I don’t hate it but, the book Circe is not my most favorite. I know it is totally wrong to judge a book by its cover, but I do.

These were my confessions. I tag the following people:

Devouring Books

Last Week’s Wrap Up

This last week I read some great books, and even a 5 Star Read!!!! It has rained almost non stop here and has made for some pretty good reading weather!

Bright Ruin

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This was a good ending to this series. It was full of suspense and excitement. We lost a few along the way, but overall a good story with a satisfying ending.

The Sapphire Affair

This was a short, fun read. It was pretty much insta romance, but the mystery kept me interested. I will definitely be reading book 2 to find out what the step dad is up to and what happened to all the money.

Two Dark Reigns

My 5 Star Read!!!

This book had it all and I adore these sisters. I hope in the end they can all be happy. Katharine is going crazy, Arsinoe is on a quest, and I am afraid Mirabella has turned from her sister. So many questions!!! I cannot wait for the next book! I was absorbed from page 1.

Rich People Problems

The perfect ending to this series! I was overall pretty happy how it all ended. Nick and Rachel got a happy ending. Astrid went through a major change, as did Colin and Araminta (who becomes close friends with Kitty😱), and Kitty finally gets ahead. So many people and so much drama. I am sad this series is over.

I must force myself to read ARCS this next week because I have deadlines coming up. October is full of them, but these books above were so much fun.

What are you reading? Have you read any of these?

Book Tour: Ragis

I received a copy of this book from Fiery Seas Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so interesting! It starts right off with ships chasing each other and then drama ensues.

There was such an interesting cast of characters that made this fun. The children were so mischievous and brought lighter elements to the book. It was nice to see such devotion from him and the children.

There was a magic element that I did not quite understand. It was nice that he could over come the dark magic, but it just seemed rushed and not explained very well.

The romance wasn’t at the forefront but was definitely exciting. They definitely belonged together. And the other guy got what he deserved!

The ending leaves you guessing and hoping for more.

If you get a chance to read this, please do. This author should get more recognition for this series!

Here is the giveaway:

Last Week’s Wrap Up

Time for another wrap up. More books read and even more to go. I have so many books due in October and I am trying to get through them so I can read what I want😂 I will never make it through all these books. (Ignores the fact more are made everyday and I am weak).. ok moving on.

Here is Last Week’s Books I Read:

China Rich Girlfriend

This book was every bit as fun as the first, with even more drama. I love Astrid. She’s my girl and I’m glad she finally saw the light. She deserves better. I loved meeting Carlton. If I had any complaint, it would be the massive amounts of names you have to learn, but I do understand it. It will be interesting to see how all of these people end up.

Tarnished City

I have yet to figure out who is good or bad in this book. It seems a big reveal is coming. I hope Gavar can redeem himself. Abi is really coming out of her shell. Jenner is such a jerk. I am so sad over Dina and the doc. They didn’t deserve it.

We’ll Always Have Summer

I was angry through most of this book. I was angry at Belly for being a pushover and not being true with her feelings. I was angry at Conrad for not stepping up and admitting his feelings. I was angry at Jeremiah for acting like a spoiled child. The ending I predicted, but still mad me happy. But…when I wait hundreds of pages and 3 books, I expected more than a few letters telling me what happened. I want to live it!

He Loves You Not

I received a copy of this from Skyscape and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was my first book by Tara and definitely not my last. It was a little long and took a while to get the story going. The characters were all entertaining and the plot was good. I liked the friendships and family she had.

That’s all for last week! This week I am finishing Bright Ruin and the library just got in the ebook of Two Dark Reigns. I am so excited!

What are you reading? Anything I should add to my TBR?

Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger Recognition Award
Thank you Entertainingly Nerdy for nominating me for this award. I am still a newbie and am so excited you thought of me!

The rules:

Thank the blogger that nominated you.
Write a post to show your award.
Give a brief story of how your blog started.
Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
How it all started:

In late June I decided I needed to know more bookish things. I converted my old Twitter account that I never got on to one strictly for books. I soon met wonderful people and one of those Noly suggested I start a blog. After several weeks, I decided why not. I started my blog in mid July and have been on such an exciting journey so far!
Advice for new bloggers:
My advice is to not get caught up in the numbers. It is so easy to want to do that, but stay true to you. Post about what you want to and when you have time to. Make time to explore other peoples social media or blogs and interact with them. Its not all about you. Its about giving back to the community who supports you.

Last Week’s Round Up

Hi everyone! I took this week and devoted myself to knocking some books out of my TBR. I finished a few ARCs too. I am slowly, but surely working my way through them. So without further ado….

This book was about the same as all the others in this series. I had very high expectations because of the author. The plot was good, but I just didn’t care about the characters. If you want to read it because its Catwoman or because Sarah wrote it then I would, but it just isn’t a 5 star for me.

This book has set on my TBR for a long time. I got approved for the 3rd book ARC, so I decided to move it on up. I was pleasantly surprised. The writing hooks you from the beginning. I spent the whole book trying to figure out who was good or bad. I never did. I am super excited about the second book and I hope to figure out more.

The final ending to my Pretty Little Liars. After 16 books, I didn’t know whether to love them or hate them. I definitely miss the story and characters, but it did go on for a long time. I also talked to some friends who watched the tv show and it appears it is definitely different. These girls were in constant trouble. I felt sorry for them and was angry at them too. I did enjoy the series.

You can never really go wrong with a Kasie book. Out of all the ones I have read, this one was probably my least favorite. I didn’t like how the mother was portrayed or the things she did. If you like Kasie’s books, it is worth the read, but probably not one I would recommend starting out.

I received a copy of this from First to Read in exchange for an honest review. I was unfamiliar with this author, but it sounded like fun. Ava and Caleb met in an airport and the banter and dislike was so funny. Caleb was a real jerk for most of the book, but I enjoyed finding out what made them both the way they were. The romance was steamy. The only thing I didn’t like was that it ended abruptly, but I am hoping it was a set up for another book about his brother.

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This book really drags for the whole first half. The second half picks up and had a pretty good ending. The book really only is about Christmas at the end.

This week I hope to read Tarnished City and I have another book for a book tour to read. After that we will see!!

Whew….I also read another ARC but it is for a book tour and will be published at the end of the month. Have you read any of these? Did you feel similarly? Is there any book you are reading you love?

What do I want with my blog??

Hi! I have been so busy lately and I just have not had the time to devote to my blog that I would like. I would love to do this all the time, but realistically I work a full time job. I am a wife and a mother. And…I have a TBR pile that could crush me any moment😂 I have two full bookshelves and a kindle full of unread books. Yet everyday I am scouring Amazon, the library ebook app and all of the other sites I use to buy books and we won’t talk about all the ARCs I requested and can’t work my way through🙈

So I have been questioning myself as to what I want to do with this blog. What do I want to accomplish? I have looked at some of your blogs and I am ashamed of my reviews. Some of the blogs are lengthy and so well written they should appear in a magazine or on the books themselves and I’m over here like “yeah it was good”. I see some of you post almost everyday. I am amazed at all the bookstagram photos(and to be honest, a little terrified at having to find so many ways to photograph a book). The creativity you guys put out and the effort I see is astounding.

But for me…

I keep coming back to this…

I love to read. It makes me happy. I love to find a good book and escape to a different place, explore a culture I am unfamiliar with, find life friends, explore love. I love the feel of a book in my hands and the comfort it gives me. I started this blog as a place to just talk about what I have read and learn about new books from others and boy, have I done that😍 I have met so many wonderful, kind and helpful people. I have fangirled with some of the best and met friends I just know would be my best friends if we could ever met. People who make me smile throughout the day. I have learned about new books and purchased some just because of what you guys thought.

THIS is what I want from my blog. The stats are excellent and the numbers keep me in awe, but I will never be the blogger who can do a super long review. I can never be the blogger who posts everyday and has the perfect, eloquent post. I’m just a girl who loves books and wants to talk about them. And that’s ok.

I admire so many of you and am so proud of what you are accomplishing. And to those of you, who actually take the time to like, comment, tag or share any of my work, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart!!😍
