Last Week’s Wrap Up

Time for another wrap up. More books read and even more to go. I have so many books due in October and I am trying to get through them so I can read what I want😂 I will never make it through all these books. (Ignores the fact more are made everyday and I am weak).. ok moving on.

Here is Last Week’s Books I Read:

China Rich Girlfriend

This book was every bit as fun as the first, with even more drama. I love Astrid. She’s my girl and I’m glad she finally saw the light. She deserves better. I loved meeting Carlton. If I had any complaint, it would be the massive amounts of names you have to learn, but I do understand it. It will be interesting to see how all of these people end up.

Tarnished City

I have yet to figure out who is good or bad in this book. It seems a big reveal is coming. I hope Gavar can redeem himself. Abi is really coming out of her shell. Jenner is such a jerk. I am so sad over Dina and the doc. They didn’t deserve it.

We’ll Always Have Summer

I was angry through most of this book. I was angry at Belly for being a pushover and not being true with her feelings. I was angry at Conrad for not stepping up and admitting his feelings. I was angry at Jeremiah for acting like a spoiled child. The ending I predicted, but still mad me happy. But…when I wait hundreds of pages and 3 books, I expected more than a few letters telling me what happened. I want to live it!

He Loves You Not

I received a copy of this from Skyscape and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was my first book by Tara and definitely not my last. It was a little long and took a while to get the story going. The characters were all entertaining and the plot was good. I liked the friendships and family she had.

That’s all for last week! This week I am finishing Bright Ruin and the library just got in the ebook of Two Dark Reigns. I am so excited!

What are you reading? Anything I should add to my TBR?

Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger Recognition Award
Thank you Entertainingly Nerdy for nominating me for this award. I am still a newbie and am so excited you thought of me!

The rules:

Thank the blogger that nominated you.
Write a post to show your award.
Give a brief story of how your blog started.
Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
How it all started:

In late June I decided I needed to know more bookish things. I converted my old Twitter account that I never got on to one strictly for books. I soon met wonderful people and one of those Noly suggested I start a blog. After several weeks, I decided why not. I started my blog in mid July and have been on such an exciting journey so far!
Advice for new bloggers:
My advice is to not get caught up in the numbers. It is so easy to want to do that, but stay true to you. Post about what you want to and when you have time to. Make time to explore other peoples social media or blogs and interact with them. Its not all about you. Its about giving back to the community who supports you.

Last Week’s Round Up

Hi everyone! I took this week and devoted myself to knocking some books out of my TBR. I finished a few ARCs too. I am slowly, but surely working my way through them. So without further ado….

This book was about the same as all the others in this series. I had very high expectations because of the author. The plot was good, but I just didn’t care about the characters. If you want to read it because its Catwoman or because Sarah wrote it then I would, but it just isn’t a 5 star for me.

This book has set on my TBR for a long time. I got approved for the 3rd book ARC, so I decided to move it on up. I was pleasantly surprised. The writing hooks you from the beginning. I spent the whole book trying to figure out who was good or bad. I never did. I am super excited about the second book and I hope to figure out more.

The final ending to my Pretty Little Liars. After 16 books, I didn’t know whether to love them or hate them. I definitely miss the story and characters, but it did go on for a long time. I also talked to some friends who watched the tv show and it appears it is definitely different. These girls were in constant trouble. I felt sorry for them and was angry at them too. I did enjoy the series.

You can never really go wrong with a Kasie book. Out of all the ones I have read, this one was probably my least favorite. I didn’t like how the mother was portrayed or the things she did. If you like Kasie’s books, it is worth the read, but probably not one I would recommend starting out.

I received a copy of this from First to Read in exchange for an honest review. I was unfamiliar with this author, but it sounded like fun. Ava and Caleb met in an airport and the banter and dislike was so funny. Caleb was a real jerk for most of the book, but I enjoyed finding out what made them both the way they were. The romance was steamy. The only thing I didn’t like was that it ended abruptly, but I am hoping it was a set up for another book about his brother.

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This book really drags for the whole first half. The second half picks up and had a pretty good ending. The book really only is about Christmas at the end.

This week I hope to read Tarnished City and I have another book for a book tour to read. After that we will see!!

Whew….I also read another ARC but it is for a book tour and will be published at the end of the month. Have you read any of these? Did you feel similarly? Is there any book you are reading you love?

What do I want with my blog??

Hi! I have been so busy lately and I just have not had the time to devote to my blog that I would like. I would love to do this all the time, but realistically I work a full time job. I am a wife and a mother. And…I have a TBR pile that could crush me any moment😂 I have two full bookshelves and a kindle full of unread books. Yet everyday I am scouring Amazon, the library ebook app and all of the other sites I use to buy books and we won’t talk about all the ARCs I requested and can’t work my way through🙈

So I have been questioning myself as to what I want to do with this blog. What do I want to accomplish? I have looked at some of your blogs and I am ashamed of my reviews. Some of the blogs are lengthy and so well written they should appear in a magazine or on the books themselves and I’m over here like “yeah it was good”. I see some of you post almost everyday. I am amazed at all the bookstagram photos(and to be honest, a little terrified at having to find so many ways to photograph a book). The creativity you guys put out and the effort I see is astounding.

But for me…

I keep coming back to this…

I love to read. It makes me happy. I love to find a good book and escape to a different place, explore a culture I am unfamiliar with, find life friends, explore love. I love the feel of a book in my hands and the comfort it gives me. I started this blog as a place to just talk about what I have read and learn about new books from others and boy, have I done that😍 I have met so many wonderful, kind and helpful people. I have fangirled with some of the best and met friends I just know would be my best friends if we could ever met. People who make me smile throughout the day. I have learned about new books and purchased some just because of what you guys thought.

THIS is what I want from my blog. The stats are excellent and the numbers keep me in awe, but I will never be the blogger who can do a super long review. I can never be the blogger who posts everyday and has the perfect, eloquent post. I’m just a girl who loves books and wants to talk about them. And that’s ok.

I admire so many of you and am so proud of what you are accomplishing. And to those of you, who actually take the time to like, comment, tag or share any of my work, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart!!😍

Hi everyone!! Hope you are having a wonderful week. I have been trying to work my way through some ARCs I have gotten. I have some book tours scheduled in the next month or so and I have so many books I am excited to read. Here is what I accomplished last week😊

Finished books

1. Love Punked

This book totally surprised me!! Nia allowed me a copy of her book in exchange for an honest review. At first the language was hard for me to follow, I almost gave up on it but wanted to give a honest review, so I kept going. I was rewarded with a real, emotional experience that was wonderful. I rooted for Erin every step of the way. I loved how mature she was for her age and how she kept striving to be better for her children. The true friendships were so nice. Teenage years are so difficult and Erin experienced so much. Sometimes love is patiently waiting.

2. Hollywood Ending

Another great surprise. I received a copy of this from Netgalley and Midnight Ink in exchange for my honest review. This was so funny. Dayna was so determined to solve this crime and her friends and the situations were hilarious. I immediately bought the other book in the series. I am so glad I took a chance on this one.

3. Battle With the SEAL

I received a copy of this from Netgalley and Relay Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This was a fun steamy romance. It was definitely insta attraction for these two. I enjoyed the rest of the cast as well. Nice quick read.

4. Anna and the French Kiss

I asked you guys for a light, fun read because last week had some dark, heavy stuff and this was one of the top suggestions. I borrowed the ebook from the library. Loved this one! I enjoyed the slow burn friendship to romance and it was totally worth it. Thanks for the recommendation😊

5. Boy Band

Jacqueline sent me a copy of two Books. I have always liked the band setting and read this one first. All of the band members were so different and fun. It was so exciting to go on this journey with them and see where the romance would go between Sam and Melissa. The ending was a major cliffhanger that had me rushing to get book 2. Can’t wait to continue this story!

Next Week

It looks like next on my list is Catwoman by Sarah J Maas. My ebook hold is in😊 I think I may also try to finish the final Pretty Little Liars book before jumping back to the ARCs.

Also it was my birthday and I may or might not have bought way too many books. Look for the pictures when they arrive😂

I also won a giveaway by the lovely @ForLoveandBooks!! I am so excited to read these 2 books! I can’t believe I actually won a giveaway! I am in awe!!

Check back next week to see what I have gotten into. You never know what I will read next!

Book Tour: The South Winds

I received a copy of this book from Fiery Seas Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

This is the perfect beach read! A romance that went wrong, a wedding, a minor accident and a hurricane all combine to bring Cassie and Dean back together. A tragedy from the past drove them apart and it takes a lot of work to fire this romance back up.

It is a very short but fulfilling book with an adorable southern vibe. Pick up your copy today!

Last week in Review (Mini Reviews)

Hi everyone! I got a few books finished this last week and boy did I need to😂 I thought I would just add them all to this post.

Books Finished

Like Never and Always

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and Tor Teen in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. I couldn’t put it down and finished in almost 1 day. I loved the story plot, as it is something I have not seen a lot of. I adored Clay. He was sweet, kind and supportive. The weird sort of love triangle was interesting as well.

One of Us is Lying

This book was very interesting. I spent the whole book trying to figured out what had really happened in study hall that day. I liked that each of the main characters grew up and changed for the better. I would definitely read the next book.

Pieces of Her

I received a copy of this book from Edelweiss and HarperCollins in exchange for a honest review. I DNF this one😔 I really looked forward to reading a book by Karin but the violence was just a little too much for me and I did not feel I could identify with the main character at all. The writing style was nice though and I feel like I will try other books by her. This one just wasn’t for me.

Tell Me You’re Mine

I received a copy of this from Edelweiss and Penguin Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This book was very interesting. I spent the whole book trying to figure out the real story of Stella and Isabelle and I was not disappointed. Very interesting story.

I need something much lighter after these books and after some help from some of you…. I am currently reading Anna and the French Kiss 😍

I have set up a lot of books over the next month or so. Wish me luck!!!!

Review: Sadie (Spoilers ahead)

by Courtney Summers

Synopsis provided by Goodreads:
Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meagre clues to find him.

When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late.

Expected publication: September 4th 2018 by Wednesday Books

Trigger warning: Violence, Pedophilia

Ok….this was a hard review for me to write. I received a copy of this book from Wednesday Books in exchange for an honest review. The topic of this book is very hard for me. It is not something I am comfortable with. I kept reading the book because I was interested in how the story would progress.

Things I liked:

  1. I thought the writer did a good job of keeping the story going. I was generally interested in whether or not the radio reporter would find Sadie and what she was doing in the meantime.
  2. I met lots of people in this book and Courtney did an excellent job of making them easy to distinguish in each corresponding story.
  3. The story was interesting and I was excited to see how it would end. She did a great job of telling you exactly what Sadie had done in the next chapter right after the reporter had figured it out.

Things I did not like:

  1. Again, the subject was very difficult for me. It is heartbreaking to read.
  2. They way it is written, one chapter is an excerpt from the radio show, telling you what the reporter has found out and is doing. The next is from Sadie’s perspective telling you what she is doing or has done. The parts from the radio reporter were a little difficult to keep up with because he kept bouncing from different characters and you would not know that they were a part of that segment.
  3. There was no real ending. We spent the whole book trying to bring Sadie home and she was never found at the end of the book. We never even find out how Sadie knew who the killer was. It was just automatically known by her and she takes off on a revenge journey that was never explained.

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

I think it was definitely worth the read and a lot of people will really like this. For me, it was not my favorite but I didn’t dislike it either. Have you read this yet? What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from you
